The Sinister Brain Research Group is an independent research group based in the St. Louis, Missouri area.
Our Strategic Priorities are:

- Design frameworks and tools that promote seamless, ethical collaboration between artificial intelligence systems and human decision-makers—enhancing productivity, insight generation, and trust in AI technologies.
- Address Ethical, Legal, and Societal Implications of AI
- Proactively identify and mitigate risks related to AI ethics, algorithmic bias, data privacy, regulatory compliance, and the broader societal impacts of autonomous systems.
- Expand the AI Research & Development Workforce
- Build long-term AI capacity by investing in STEM education, interdisciplinary research, and workforce development programs that attract and retain top talent in machine learning, data science, and AI governance.
- Develop Open, Shared Datasets and Testing Environments
- Promote transparency and innovation through the creation of public, high-quality datasets and simulation environments that enable reproducible training and benchmarking of AI models across diverse domains.
- Establish Industry-Wide AI Standards and Benchmarks
- Collaborate with academia, government, and private industry to define robust standards and performance benchmarks for evaluating artificial intelligence systems in terms of accuracy, safety, fairness, and explainability.
